White-lined chipboard and solidboard manufacturer Reno de Medici (RDM) group has officially shut down the idle R.D.M Blendecques board mill on 31 August.
The French site houses one board machine with an installed capacity of up to 140,000 tpy of uncoated and coated recycled board. The mill had a staff of more than 170.
Reno de Medici had announced the plan for the closure of the Blendecques site last March. The mill has been facing substantial difficulties over the last two years due to different events and incidents. In March 2022, a major fire occurred at the mill which entailed a ten-month production stoppage. Between November 2023 and January 2024 a series of severe flooding hit the Pas-de-Calais department in northern France, prompting more downtime at the Blendecques mill.
