Burgos-based company Papeleras del Arlanzón will receive €3.2m and Matías Gomá Tomás €2.8m of that sum. Both companies produce 100 per cent recycled containerboard.

Papeleras del Arlanzón (PDA), which has been part of CL Grupo since April 2022, has invested €1m in machinery to improve the paper drying process, reduce energy consumption and minimise the environmental impact of operations. €1.5m were invested in improvements to water treatment processes, pulping and cost-cutting measures.

In addition, PDA has invested €700,000 in a circular water system, which has already been implemented at the sister plant in Matías Gomá Tomás.

Among other things, the measure will lead to an increase in production capacity from 120 to 140 tpd of containerboard.

In addition, CL Grupo invested €2.8m to improve fibre treatment processes at the Matías Gomá Tomás (MGT) plant in Tarragona. The investments will help to reduce the plant's energy consumption and production costs.

CL Grupo Industrial is a Spanish investment company with a turnover of over €2bn and 3,000 employees. The company is active in market segments such as chemicals, construction, steel, beauty products and energy.

In addition to PDA and MGT, CL Grupo's packaging division also includes the companies Ondupack, Murcia Cartón and Plastiverd. The division has a production capacity of 170,000 tpy of containerboard and 250 million m² of corrugated board per year.
