The 2nd International Specialized Exhibition of Paper, Cardboard and Cellulose Industries started today (Tuesday) in the presence of the deputy industrial and commercial ministers of The Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, and some managers from the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, and the heads of the paper and cardboard production and distribution unions and associations.
Tehran – IRNA – One hundred companies and the manufacturing a d service domestic units and the active representatives of foreign companies participated in the exhibition. And while presenting the latest technologies of this field, they exchanged information and discussed the possibility of collaborative cooperation.
The most important targets of the 2nd International Specialized Exhibition of Paper, Cardboard and Cellulose Products and the Related Industries were to introduce the latest production, industrial and technological achievements of domestic companies, to create opportunities for domestic and foreign marketing, to take advantage of the knowledge and experience of the other countries in the field of exhibition, to introduce and import of the technological achievements to the country, to introduce foreign and domestic investment opportunities in this field, and to create the interactional background between domestic manufacturers and entrepreneurs and the foreign companies active in this field.
Along with the domestic companies, the companies representing the industries of China, India, Pakistan and Turkey are attending in the 2nd International Specialized Exhibition of Paper, Cardboard and Cellulose Industries.
According to statistics, the annual consumption of printing and writing paper and newsprint is around 335 thousand tons more than 50 percent of which is supplied through imports. The active people in the industry believe that if the paper production industry is seriously supported, the domestic producers with their high potential wil be able to supply a major parts of the domestic requirements.
Three manufacturing companies with the nominal capacity of 175 thousand tons are active in producing newsprint, writing and printing paper, and five other plants with the production capacity of 338 thousand tons will be on operation within a few years.
Paper production from calcium carbonate rock is one of the conventional methods of paper production. With respect to low production costs in this method, 145 industrial plants have received the production permission from the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade 15 of which have had physical progress between 60 to 100 percent with the production capacity of 115 thousand tons.
In carton and cardboard production, there has been created the production capacity of 3 million tons over the previous years. However, only one million tons of the capacity is active, and various plans have been presented to remove the problems of this sector.
The 2nd International Specialized Exhibition of Paper, Cardboard and Cellulose Industries was held in the permanent location of the Tehran International Exhibition from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. between Aug. 6th and Aug. 9th to be visited by the interested people.
