The Chairman of the Board of the Cooperative of Printing Industry in Khorassan Razavi province said, “Unfortunately, 20 to 30 percent of the paper used by printing houses is dedicated to publishers. They receive their required paper by showing their book title, then they sell it on the free market.”
Ali Asghar Jalilian, in an interview with ISNA on the problem of the existing problems in printing industry, said, “Our main problem in this field is the free purchase of raw materials caused by replacing the position of merchants with importers.”
He added, “At present, everyone can easily take governmental currency and import and then sell the imported goods at the free market price. Moreover, in order to bypass the Ministry of Assets, they will freely provide the industrial units with official invoices at governmental exchange rate.
The Chairman of the Board of the Cooperative of Printing Industry in Khorassan Razavi province noted, “If merchants provide the cooperatives of guilds with the same price he imported plus a reasonable profit and if the cooperatives distribute the goods, everything will be in their routine process.”
Jalilian stated, “In such a situation, the Tazirat organization can monitor the market, too, but Tazirat cannot have any controls when I purchase the cardboard at 12000Tomans per kilo while it should be 4800 Tomans/K. How can Tazirat control the situation?
He added, “In addition to modernizing machinery at printing houses, the purchase of the goods has aggravated the problems.”
Lack of the activity in the printing houses due to shortage of goods
Pointing out the existence of shortages in the printing industry, the Chairman of the Board of the Cooperative of Printing Industry in Khorassan Razavi province asserted, “The shortage is very severe at present, and our printing houses are not active sue to lack of goods.”
Jalilian said, “One of the reasons of shortage of goods is their expensive prices, and the customers and factories have halved their orders; that is why the market has dropped drastically.”
He continued, “We currently face the shortage of ink, paper and cardboard. Unfortunately, 20 to 30 percent of the paper used by printing houses is dedicated to publishers. They receive their required paper by showing their book title, then they sell it on the free market, and I have to purchase paper from them.”
