The port and maritime director of Amirabad special economic zone said, "The amount of investment in this port has already reached one thousand and 150 million Tomans, and 31 contracts have been made.”
In an interview with Mehr News Agency stating that we had great problem in equipment due to sanctions for which an opening was created after JCPOA, Ali Khedmangozar added, “We have already imported all the pieces of equipment to the port while we have had an increase of 3% compared with the last year; the monetary transaction had been a problem which was resolved after JCPOA.”
On the port activities in investment sector, Khedmangozsar said, “Regarding the government’s approach on encouraging the private sector to work and the condition of economic recession, the measures taken in this respect have been satisfactory because the investment in the port has already reached one thousand billion and 150 million Tomans and around 31 contracts have been made.”
Stating that we had one thousand billion and 33 million Tomans during the president’s visit in March this year, he continued, “Around 1000 people were employed by inauguration of the port projects including the paper, steel and other factories while we have 4 thousand employees in the port. If the port basin is assigned to the private sector, at least 500 more people will be employed.”
Announcing that there has been an investment of over 1000 billion Tomans in the port, this authority said, “There had been 650 thousand tons of unloading and loading operations by 04/07/2017 while we had +3 % of loading. On the whole, the import grew 38% compare the same period last year during the first 4 months in the port.
Expressing his pleasure with the current condition of export from the port, Khedmatgozar said, “The export items are gypsum, cement, clinger, and aluminum powder the latter of which was sent to Azerbaijan Republic which has already asked for 6000 tons of the powder.
Stating that the exports from the port are growing, he said, “In the transit activities most of which are oil products coming from Turkmenistan to the port, we have already had an increase of 189% in oil products.”
