The head of Yazd Industry, Mine, and Trade Organization, referring to the activity of paper making unit, said, “According to the production capacity which has been considered for this unit, 20 thousand tons of paper is annually produced from limestone in Yazd.”
In an interview with Fars News Agency in Yazd, Mohammad Reza Alamdari said, “Iran is one of the four paper producing countries from limestone that can produce paper like China, Canada, and Taiwan without cutting trees.”
He, stating that this type of industry is localized in Yazd, continued, “Paper can be produced without cutting even a branch of tree in this method that according to the capacity of Yazd province, it can be considered among the advantages of the province.”
The head of Yazd Industry, Mine, and Trade Organization, pointing out the characteristics of the province and the residents of this region of desert in production and industry, said, “Yazd province is seriously facing a water crisis due to recent draughts, so the province should follow the products which do not require or require very less water to be produced. As a result, this method of production in the province which does not consume even a drop of water is very justifiable.”
He outlined the attributions of the production of this product as high longevity and durability, compatibility with humidity, and recyclability and reiterated, “The province and even region lacked such products, and with regard to the domestic untouched market and the regional consumption the production capacity can be increased.”
Alamdar Yazdi announced that the investment for this plant was 40 billion Tomans and said, “At present, more than 30 people are working in the plant, but it can have the capacity of several times as much as the current employment after the expansion of project.”
