Reporting of the Ministry's program to use domestically produced paper for printing textbooks of schools in 2016 in an interview with the cultural correspondent of Tasnim News, the Director General of printing, distributing, and educational materials of the Ministry of Education and Training , Lida Nikravesh said, "The Ministry of Education and Training has already used the domestically produced paper for printing textbooks in order to support domestic production. Also this year, 50% of textbooks have been published by means of the same policy."
Stating that this percentage will rise if the required quality in the production of paper is increased, she continued, "We have not had meetings with the local manufacturing companies. However, if the required quality in the production of paper is increased, the ministry's portion of using domestically produced paper also will go up."
The Director General of printing, distributing, and educational materials of the Ministry of Education and Training noted, "The quality of the paper used for textbooks is very important because the quality of the paper plays a significant role in students' learning. The illustrations will be displayed better and the content will be conveyed better, too."
According to her, if the necessary standards are not followed in producing paper required for textbooks, it will not be economical for the ministry to use this type of paper because the rate of waste will increase.
Nikravesh finally stressed, "The ministry's first priority is to use domestically produced paper. If the required standards are observed, and if the produced paper meets the required quality, the consumption of domestically produced paper will increase in printing textbooks."
