Norwegian packaging paper producer, Hurum Paper Mill AS, will permanently shut down at the end of 2008.
Located in Tofte, Norway, the Hurum mill produces 35,000 tons per year of MF and MG paper on two machines—PM 3 and PM 4.
PM 3 has a 21,000 tpy colored office board, envelope, graphic and specialty paper capacity, while PM 4 produces 14,000 tpy of machine-glazed bleached kraft paper for the packaging industry.
The mill employs about 65 people..
Weak demand in the company's main markets was the primary factor leading to the decision to close the mill.
