The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) is pleased to announce that Scott Milburn has been named Executive Director of AF&PA Strategic Communications. Mr. Milburn will coordinate AF&PA’s communication outreach to industry, policy and opinion leaders, and the media
Mr. Milburn comes to AF&PA with a background in state and federal government, as well as public affairs consulting. He most recently served as vice president in the issues management practice of Washington-based APCO Worldwide, where he worked on a wide range of issues including energy and trade policy, as well as health care and legal reform.
Mr. Milburn has an extensive background in public policy communication, having served as press secretary in the White House Office of Management and Budget under directors Joshua Bolten and Rob Portman, and as senior communication advisor to members of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, as well as a governor. In all of these positions he worked closely on energy and environmental policy, as well as other issues central to manufacturing and agriculture.
“Scott’s background at the state and federal level, in both chambers of Congress and at the White House, as well as advising corporate clients, gives him a broad range of experience that we’re excited about putting to work for AF&PA’s members,” said AF&PA President & CEO Donna Harman. “With political and policy changes on the horizon, Scott will bring a breadth of experience and contacts that will help AF&PA effectively advance policies that promote a strong and sustainable U.S. forest products industry.”
Mr. Milburn is a graduate of Ohio University’s Scripps School of Journalism.
