Following the expansion of Södra's product portfolio to include energy and chemicals as well as building systems in addition to the existing core businesses of pulp and sawn timber, the Swedish company is now reorganising its business areas.
As of 1 September, Södra Bioproducts, responsible for energy and chemicals, and Södra Building Systems, responsible for building systems, will move from being part of Södra Cell and Södra Innovation to becoming separate business areas.
The creation of these new business areas will strengthen the company's competitiveness and commercial focus, Södra said.
All of Södra's business areas will be directly represented in the group's senior management to provide even better conditions for the Group's strategic changes and to ensure a clearer commercial focus. Johannes Bogren and Andreas Berge will therefore move from their current roles as Heads of Södra Bioproducts and Södra Building Systems, respectively, to become Business Area Heads and members of Group Senior Management.
At the same time, Catrin Gustavsson, currently President of Södra Innovation, will become the new President of Södra Cell.
Magnus Björkman, currently President of Södra Cell, will move to a role analysing the management of investments across the group to further strengthen Södra's profitability and competitiveness.
"Our new businesses have taken a number of steps forward and it is time to give them more space together with our existing core businesses. The changes will provide us with a good balance between our various products and give the businesses a stronger voice," says President and CEO Lotta Lyrå.
