Dayton, OH — Appleton, a leading global provider of thermal paper and the world΄s largest manufacturer of carbonless paper, has signed an agreement with NCR Corporation to license NCR΄s simultaneous two-sided thermal-paper technology. This license gives Appleton the ability to make, use and sell two-sided thermal paper under NCR΄s two-sided thermal-paper intellectual property worldwide.
NCRs patented two-sided printing technology reduces paper-roll receipt usage by as much as 50 percent and provides additional operational savings on freight, storage, disposal and roll changes. In addition to cost savings, two-sided paper minimizes environmental impact by using less paper in the process.
We are excited to be able to offer this innovative new NCR technology to our customers,? said Walter Schonfeld, president of Appleton?s Technical Papers Division. Two-sided thermal paper can serve a number of applications, and we are happy to be able to add this offering to our thermal product portfolio, which is already the industrys broadest.?
Applications for two-sided thermal-receipt printing include point-of-sale, banking, event ticketing, lottery, self-service kiosks and more.
We know Appleton for delivering high quality, value, and reliability,? said Peter Dorsman, vice president and general manager of NCRs Systemedia Division, a leading provider of printer consumables. Offering two-sided thermal paper to their customers is a great fit for the market-focused way Appleton does business.?
NCR is offering commercially attractive licensing terms to other printer manufacturers and paper mills interested in its two-sided thermal-printing technology.
