Stating, “If the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad allows to harvest wood from broken trees of the forest, we will experience the production of 100 thousand tons of paper.”, the deputy of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance said, “We allocated 270 million Euros for the imports of paper when the exchange rates changed in the recent months.”
According to the social team of Pouya Journalists’ Club, Mohammad Soltanifar stated, “The expensive price and the shortage of paper is not the major factor in the media economy, but it is the advertisement which is considered the first factor of media economy” and said, “The conditions of the country have caused the media economy  to be manifested more. A part of the revenue problem is related to the fact that advertisements have dropped; the governmental advertisements have declined significantly and perhaps have been more targeted, but their rate has fallen sharply.”

Referring to the importance of the sales of journals and newspapers and regretting the decline in the purchase of the newspaper as the first priority of families’ basket, the deputy of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance said, “The paper is a global issue, and the rate of newsprint production has fallen drastically due to the environmental problems. All these issues have caused the problem with the production of paper, which has made the supply of paper from foreign resources difficult at present.”

He added, “The domestic requirements to newsprint paper is around between 70 and 100 thousand of tons per year, and the production capacity of Mazandaran Wood and Paper Factory is 95 thousand tons, but it does not have wood and the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad is the sponsor of supplying wood, but it is around a year that the ministry does not allow the wood harvest from the forest for different reasons, while harvesting wood from forest helps to optimize forests.”

He added, “The Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade is not willing to lose ground on the issue of importing paper, and we have the least involvement in the allocation of foreign currency and order registration; therefore, the media’s request from the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance shold be within the scope of our discretion.”
